Tampa

The Current Situation

Mosquitoes have long been an issue for Tampa Bay like the rest of Florida. As of November 2014, there have been no locally contracted cases of Chikungunya. We do have reported cases from people who travelled to the Caribbean. Both the Aedes aegypti and Aedes alopictus are found in the Tampa Bay.

The Hillsborough County Mosquito and Aquatic Weed Control office implements many measures to reduce the spread of these diseases.
